Wow what a day on an amazingly beautiful run. We had a great group, a ton of fun, some wonderful lines, and well some not so wonderful.
We started the day with a "warm-up" on the Elbow to the Y section of Little River. This section had some great II and III rapids and was three miles of fun. Beautiful, peaceful, challenging, and rewarding. You can really work on some skills in this section and we look forward to running it again. Plenty of great eddies, peel outs, moves, rocks, and boofs.
Everyone did great and at the end we loaded up all the gear and headed above the Sinks. There we reassessed, and got back on the river just a half mile above the Sinks. At the Sinks we all got out, decided if we would run, watched some lines, picked out ours, and those silly enough to temp fate saddled up and got back on the water. Everyone cleaned the Meanies, and we lined up for the Sinks.
I'll have to say in our defense, the run was a little low and the big drop was definitely different. To sum it up, no one cleaned it and we all got wet! Everyone stayed in their boats and we only had one smashed thumb. Not too bad. The smashed thumb had to pull out, after some great shore side medical attention, and the rest of the group put in and we headed down.
The remaining run was spectacular. What a piece of paradise! Everyone in the group did exceptionally well and we had some great leaders. Plenty of lines, moves, braces, and smiles all around. Once we arrived at the Elbow all but one pulled out. One felt the need to push on... Luckily it worked out and the day was a huge success.
Dinner in Townsend allowed us to deface currency and share photos and video of the day. Plenty of smiles and stories of the day flowed across the table.
Thank you to everyone for paddling with us and we look forward to many more paddles together. We have some pics and video and will put them together soon and get them posted on here.
By the way, Ryan and Zack kicked some tail the entire run! Great job you two!! Even when you followed my not so good line ;).
Update with pics to come.
