After we burnt our arms out climbing we headed into downtown Chattanooga to check out some kayaking gear at Rockcreek Down Under. Great gear shop where we picked up some new nose plugs and where we got to try on two different full face helmets. Looking forward to picking one of these up and saving some dental work. After that we decided Ice Cream before dinner! A new tradition that I hope we keep up.
After we ate some ice cream we headed to Dru and Kaylan's to hop in one car and head to dinner. Well when we arrived at their house they found Basil, one of their dogs, had been hit by a car. Still alive and hanging in there we headed back to Chattanooga to the late night emergency medical vet thingy. Everything turned out great, no broken bones or internal bleeding. Tough like dog I guess. They kept him for the night and we headed back to Dalton for some dinner.
We had wanted to eat at their local pizza joint since New Year's and finally got there before they closed. Our waiter Eric made for an exciting dinner and we chowed down some great pizza. Very good stuff! Back to the house we went for some much need sleep and the end to a long day.
Sunday we headed for the Cheoah. Recently they have been keeping the lake low so that they can repair some docks and the kayakers couldn't be happier. The weather was a little windy and chilly but we decided to give her a shot. Dru and I put on with Cathy and a couple from Atlanta for our two runs on the lower. This run is amazing at this level and quite technical. We had a blast and would recommend this level on the lower any time (might even have some folks from Arkansas try it this weekend).
Bear Creek falls is still juicy in the center and the rapid to follow can still be run on the right, much to our surprise. Some rapids were noticeably lower and new lines came into play. The lodge rapid is still a ball and yard sale still has some potential to hold you. Great runs.
Three picks from the weekend...

This coming weekend brings rain, guests, warmer weather, and a super bowl party! Good times!
